Visit of the General Minister to the Brothers of the Province of the Immaculate in Poland

19 October 2016
On the 7-12 of October 2016 the General Minister, Br. Michael A. Perry, accompanied by General Definitor, Br. Ivan Sesar, made a fraternal visit to the province of the Immaculate Conception BMV in Poland. They were received solemnly on the evening of October 7 in an event chaired by the provincial Minister, Br. Jarosław Kania, at the entrance to the Church. Also present were the provincial Definitorium and the Krakow community. The ritual concluded with prayers at the tomb of St Simon of Lipnica and a blessing by the General Minister. The days were marked by a series of encounters: with the friars of the local community, novices and with other friars, from friaries in the province. While there, he also met with representatives of the Franciscan youth (almost 200) and those in liturgical service of the friaries of the province. The last day, Wednesday, October 12, was dedicated to visiting the Museum of the province in Lezajsk. In the Alwernia Friary the Minister and the General Definitor got to see a movie on the fire of the friary and the Church, which occurred five years ago and they visited the newly restored buildings. At the conclusion of the fraternal visit to the province, the Minister and the General Definitor met again with the Definitorium – the first meeting with the Definitorium took place October 8 – to collect and emphasize the good fruits of the days spent together “like brothers who together look at the reality of the Province and the reality of the Order”.
