Office for the OFS and the YouFra

About us

The Office for the Secular Franciscan Order and the Franciscan Youth animates and coordinates the Assistants of the OFM in their service of spiritual and pastoral care to the Fraternities of the OFS and the YouFra assisted by the Order. The General Assistant provides his service with the other General Assistants of the First Order and the TOR, cooperating collegially according to the indications of the Statute for assistance and the Regulations.

The tasks of the Office are:

• to prepare reports and information on Pastoral Visits and National Elective Chapters;
• to draw up the quarterly bulletin “Koinonia”;
• to provide for the revision of the National Statutes of the OFS;
• to participate and collaborating in the various activities of the Presidency of the International Council of the OFS (CIOFS) and the Conference of General Spiritual Assistants (CAS);
• to visit the OFS-YouFra National Fraternities and participating in the National Elective Chapters in collaboration with other members of the CAS;
• to provide courses and seminars for the formation of Spiritual Assistants, Secular Franciscans and all those interested and involved in the service of assistance;
• to animate all our Friars for a deeper knowledge of the OFS and the YouFra and in particular of our role in the field of spiritual and pastoral assistance;
• to support the YouFra through more articulated spiritual assistance at all levels;
• to stimulate the creation of the YouFra in countries where it does not yet exist and have more frequent contacts with the Friars and Secular Franciscans to be able to provide updated information;
• to promote collaboration between the Spiritual Assistants and the OFS Leaders in the formation and growth of the YouFra.
